Dr. Rachel Smolker, a steering committee member with the Campaign to STOP GE Trees, had a piece titled, “‘Jurassic World’ and the Dinosaurs at the USDA” published by Truth-Out.org this week. Smolker compares the genetically modified dinosaurs in the film to the various examples of overreach in the rush to monetize genetically modified organisms in the real world.

Their dance turns in circles around Big Biotech, which is working like crazy to facilitate the “fuel switch”: tweaking, synthesizing and engineering the genetic heritages of all manner of crops, trees, microbes, algae and other forms of life, seeking to turn things from their evolved place in the web of life into living chemical factories that spew out biofuels, biochemicals and the raw materials for human industrial economies.
