The Washington Post: The future of paper could come from gene-edited trees
Sep 16, 2024
An article appeared in The Washington Post on August 1, 2024 that examined gene-edited trees.
Anne Petermann, Co-founder and International Coordinator of the Campaign to STOP GE Trees, was quoted in the article: “The potential for genetic contamination of wild forests with the engineered trait is quite serious” Petermann also added that expanding tree plantations tends to “replace wild forests, displace Indigenous and forest-dependent communities and exacerbate the climate crisis.”
