Lois Breault-Melican, former president of the Rhode Island American Chestnut Foundation explains why she and her husband, Denis, resigned in protest over current plans to seed natural forests with genetically engineered (GE) American Chestnuts.

Lois explains how TACF is abandoning a decades long, natural, back breeding project that has produced promising results in favor of a proposal from SUNY-ESF researchers to release GE American Chestnuts into wild forest.

Corporate backing of the project, which she believes is a Trojan Horse for corporate GE interests are discussed, as well as their commitment to bringing back a natural version of the Chestnut which has become functionally extinct from blight and logging.

Interview by Steve Taylor, Press Secretary of the Campaign to Stop GE Trees.
